Glee

I love Glee.

Not everyone does, but I do.

It's a show about a bunch of geeks, who can sing, coming together to form a Show Choir that rocks.
The only problem with the show, is that sometimes they swear and have some sexual things.
Other than that, it's just plain awesome.
In my humble opinion, of course ;)

The Twilight Saga

So... tomorrow at 12:02 I will be doing exactly what I swore I would not do.

Curse my weaknesses.

I will be in a movie theater waiting to watch the Third Twilight Saga movie.

I feel so weak.
BUT... life moves on. I'll let you know how the movie is when I see it... Wednesday morning... at 12:02...AM...
What's this world coming to? When a girl who vowed to not even see one movie, saw them all:(
I'm so ashamed.

Oh well. Life moves on, eh?

Carrie Underwood

Now there's a voice.
Carrie Underwood was on Season 5 of American Idol and made it to the finale against Bo Bice. She beat him and sang an outstanding song at the conclusion of the show. Since then, she has won multiple awards. She is by far the most successful American Idol winner out of all 9 seasons.
Why is she the most successful? That's an easy question. Because she is the most talented. She speaks to the people through her songs and her voice has such a crystal clear clarity and such outstanding quality that it simply sounds outstanding every time she opens her mouth. And it doesn't hurt that she's quite pretty as well.
Even one of her songs, one of her most popular songs I might add, reaches out to the Christian world. Jesus, Take the Wheel is the name, though I'm sure you've heard of it before.
Now granted, not all of her songs are Christian, but they all do have a great beat:)

So, in conclusion, she is just awesome. Period.

What song today?

I think it's funny that, depending on the day, sometimes you just want to listen to sad songs. Well, for obvious reasons, I can't speak for you but I can say that there are some days that I just don't want to hear the upbeat "Happy-Go-Lucky" songs. Or even upbeat songs altogether.

However, that being said, I do believe that you are the only person that has control over your mood. If you choose (I do mean to put a slight emphasis on the word "choose", however you might have missed that because I am not reading this to you... you are reading it to yourself. Confusing? Yes.) to listen to sad songs, your mood becomes sadder. If you are feeling a little blue and choose to listen to a happier song and try to get into the song (You know what I mean... breakout the mirror/hairbrush combo, your singing along. Enthusiastically singing along, I might add) then I think your mood can be changed. But only if you choose it.

Songs have an effect on the human mind that I have yet to comprehend. I do think that music is amazing though and I sometimes wonder what will come out of my saxophone if I really try to make pretty music.

I don't know what is coming out of my generation, music wise. Mostly because I'm an ignorant part of that generation. Some of the adults in the world now seem to want to abrogate the music that is being inculcated upon us.
(Yes, I do like to randomly whip out cool words like abrogate and inculcated)

I hope that music continues to be made. Mostly for selfish reasons of my own, the first of which being... I really like music.

Taylor Swift

The boys love her, the girls love her songs, and pretty much everyone loves her "You Belong With Me" music video.
You all know who she is, yes I'm talking about Taylor Swift.
This singing sensation is hugely popular in our world today. Her album Fearless ranked #1 in 2009. She isn't even 21 yet. That's a serious success story right there. Why is she so insanely popular? She writes good songs. She's pretty. And she has a decent voice.
Admittedly, she doesn't have a very strong voice, but it's pleasant to listen to and her songs are very easy to relate to. Plus... that music video is just so darn cute.

So why do I bring her up? Good question. Well, my friends did a lip sync to the award winning tune. Yes folks, it's a You Belong With Me Lip Sync. Here it is
You may not think it's as funny as I think it is because you do not know them, but I think it's hilarious.
Watch it, comment, tell me what you think.

Yes, they are all boys. Yes, they are wearing tennis shoes with a dress. And yes, they are filming this in front of a barn (which I have been in =D ). That's what you get when you live in a rural area.

Avatar

This is an awesome movie.
I love it. Looooooovvvvveeeee it.
I know it's a tree hugger movie. I know it's an anaology to the American Indians. But I still love it. I think it's great.
The imagination it took to create some of the creatures and the bond between the Na'vi and the animals is just mind-boggling to me.
The vibrant colors send shocks through my body and I love it! I don't know why this movie means so much to me but I could watch it over and over and over and over again. I saw it in theaters when it came out; I saw it last night in my basement, and I'm going to watch it again with my daddy.

Have you guys seen this movie? What did you think of it? Did you love it as much as me? More? Less? All of the above?

Pirates of the Caribbean

A few quotes from some very, very well done movies...

You can fight and all of you will die, or you can surrender in which case only most of you will die.
Lord Cutler Beckett

Elizabeth Swann: There will come a time when you have a chance to do the right thing.
Jack Sparrow: I love those moments. I like to wave at them as they pass by.

I'm not entirely sure that I've had enough rum to allow that kind of talk.
Elizabeth

These movies never fail to bring amusement into my life. Any time I watch them, I laugh. Jack Sparrow's never-ending quest to be the most feared pirate in all the ocean, Will Turners never ending love for Elizabeth, and we can't forget Miss. Swann herself. Jonny Depp does an incredible job of acting out the crazy Jack Sparrow and Orlando Bloom for Will. I like Keira in the role of Elizabeth, but I don't like her real-life personality. Plus, she spells her name weird.

Anyway, they are making a 4th movie, if you didn't already know. It will be called Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides. Jack and Barbossa sail together after meeting in the newly discovered New Orleans. They are sailing to find the fountain of youth. Everything is fine and dandy until they realize Blackbeard is after it as well.

That's all I know so far, because the movie isn't actually coming out for another year. But I think this movie will be no exception on the funniness scale.
Yes, I said funniness.

Get over it.

Modern Art.

Art.
What is art?
If I could do one thing, no matter what it was, I would...

... not go back in time and ask someone what they thought 200 years ago.
No, I would go back and thank the man who invented indoor plumbing.
But I really would like to know what someone's definition of the word was 200 years ago.

I have trouble believing modern art is real art. I really do. I mean, I know it takes work and everything... but do we really want people looking back at this time period thinking, "A big paper clip? I can get one of those at the Office Max. I don't need to pay my whole salary to get one."
I mean look back in time for a second. Did Leonardo Di Vinci paint swirly lines or masterpieces who's legacy's still live on today?
Just look at it! You can't even see the brush strokes! It's like he finger-painted the whole thing! But of course, that technique has never been mastered :(
Now look at this...

This really does look finger-painted. And it also proves my point above. The one where I said no one has mastered it? Yeah that still stands true in my opinion.
I just don't think that it takes all that much talent.
The reason is because I don't enjoy looking at it. It doesn't give me a sense of awe. When I look at a painting or a drawing where the detail is incredible and the craftsmanship is breathtaking I get an aesthetic feeling inside. It's a little tingly with a small sense of "Wowzers."

To be quite honest I don't like modern art at all.

That is of course...unless I get the tingly feeling.

I do so enjoy that feeling.

Greyson Chance... O_o

(You'll need to click on the picture to view the whole thing)
...
...
...
So... what's this??
Well, this is this hottest new video on YouTube right now that's what it is. How hot? In 1 month it's risen it's status to grab 8 YouTube Awards. Including #1 Viewed this month. In all of YouTube. As you can see, there were very few views up until very, very recently. Right about where D starts on that chart would probably be somewhere around the 11th or 12th of this month. Guess how many views it has now?
17,209,861.
And that number is growing by the second. Talk about getting famous fast! This video was shown at a church Youth Group I went to last night. Here is the link to the video. It really is pretty amazing what this kid can do. However, I must warn you. He is singing Lady Gaga's Paparazzi in this video (I put that in bold so people could see it better). I don't think that song has anything offensive in it... but hey, I'm not you so I don't know what offends you and what doesn't.
There is one thing that sort of makes this video lose magic for me though... I have a cousin(s) that could most likely do that same thing. If not better...

That's what I get, coming from a theatrical family.
Talented people.
Oh the talent.

... oh and by the way, if you didn't see the post title, this kid's name is Greyson Chance. If you wanted to see more from him just look on his YouTube page. He has 2 original songs there that, if I'm being honest, make him sound like a girl. But hey, everyone is calling him a mini-Justin Bieber so maybe that'll work for him.

Very First Post

As some of you may know... I recently decided to stop blogging on www.525600minuets.blogspot.com. Yupp, this is me. Tia. I think I'm going to stand by my decision to stop posting on that blog, however it doesn't mean I can't create a new blog. A fresh start, if you will. As you may have seen in the header or when you typed in the URL, this blog is named "The Arts Alive"
Weird name.
It was going to be "The Face of Music" but then my mom said that it might not be a broad enough topic. So I changed it. I think this'll be fun :) I can write about pretty much anything that has to do with the arts!! Although... occasionally I'll probably write something completely un-art related. But oh well. It won't kill you... I swear... promise... hope.
Well anyway, hope you enjoy it :) I think I will haha
